Parlor Floor 1 bedroom Apt. Cobble Hill $2300

Cobble Hill and Brooklyn Heights still have the flavor of New York in the 1800's.  You can almost hear the clip-pity clop of horse hooves and the clank of wagon wheels as you walk along the tree shaded streets or sit on the stoop of the brownstone houses.

Cobble Hill is the high point on the edge of Brooklyn over looking the entrance to New York harbor. In the 1700's New York  harbor was far busier exporting goods to Europe than importing. Since ships could not return empty and light cobble stones were carried in the holds for ballast. These were dumped on the hill which became called Cobble Hill.  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobble_Hill,_Brooklyn)

In the 1800's the city spread and the stones were used to pave the streets. After the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge the ridge to the south became a prime residential area.  The neighborhoods of Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill were home to NY upper and middle class of the time. Lavish and grand brick brownstone buildings were built.
Because the area is Landmarked  the brownstones and brick houses have been restored within historical guidelines that preserve that areas aura and charm.

This apartment is in a brick townhouse on Clinton Street near the restored Cobble Hill Park.

You enter the apartment directly from the street.
You step into what had been the original buildings parlor.

The space has been cleverly reallocated into a one bedroom apartment with beautiful parquet floor and many details.

To your left, behind the window near the door, is the renovated kitchen.  There is a gas stove and a dishwasher.

It is a tidy space facing windows into the foyer or dining area of the apartment.

The living room and the bedroom branch to the left. An ornamental fireplace anchors the living room's decor.
Since the apartment occupies the corner, there are windows to both directions.

There is a spacious closet in the bedroom.
The bathroom is newly tiled.

I have the keys to this apartment and will be happy to show it to you. Feel free to call and make an appointment 917-597-4788.
There is a one month rent agent fee for this apartment.

  1. This is a very beautiful area. I love that the sidewalks are big flat stones, like they have been for years. The other day I saw a child (wearing a helmet, which is smart) scooting down on Warren Street and being able to handle the unevenness of this sidewalk. This is the way to prepare for the life ahead, overcoming bumps in the road.

By the way, the child did fall when she stopped too fast, but she got up and went on. Well done.
